Facility Improvement Grant

Under the Early Childhood Development Project five preschools have been selected from each Divisional Secretariat. For these preschools, a grant is given up to Rs.300,000 for development of the center. Also, furniture and teaching learning material provided. These are conducted with the assistance of ECD officers and other respective officers in divisional secretariats.

Progress Review

A three day progress review was  held to assess the performance of each activity along with the stakeholders of the project in August 2017 at Hotel Citrus Hikkaduwa.

GA Conference

An awareness program was held to educate Provincial level officials from Colombo District under the guidance of Secretary of Ministry of Women and Child Affairs Chandrani Senaratne.

Various activities which are conducted under the  project were discussed. Also the officials were educated on fundamentals in Early Childhood Development

Parental Awareness

A three day workshop was held for Early Childhood Development Officers on parental awareness which they will  conduct in their respective areas. The workshop was conducted by eminent panel who has vast knowledge in ECD sector.

Fee Waiver Program

A scholarship program for children from low income families from selected pre schools in each Divisional Secretariat is in operation. Under this an allowance of Rs 600 rupees is given for a child from a school and five students have been selected from each pre school.
