Overview
The Ministry of Child Development and Women’s Affairs (MCDWA) was established as per the Gazette Extraordinary No.
1651/20 of 30th April 2010.Department of Probation and Child Care Service, National Child Protection Authority, Children’s Secretariat, Sri Lanka Women’s Bureau and National Committee on women are the Departments and Statutory Institution under the Ministry.
The goal behind the establishment of Ministry of Child Development and Women’s Affairs was the creation of Sri Lankan society that is sensitive to the needs of children and women and would work for their betterment to achieve this goal.
From 2010 much attention was paid to ensure the protection, welfare and development of children and women by building up a prosperous and secure family unit as highlighted in the “Mahinda Chinthana Vision” for Future.
