The Ministry of Child Development and Women’s Affairs (MCDWA) was established as per the Gazette Extraordinary No. 1651/20 of 30th April 2010.

Department of Probation and Child Care Service, National Child Protection Authority, Children’s Secretarial, Sri Lanka Women’s Bureau and National Committee on women are the Departments and Statutory Institution under the Ministry.

This publication can be of use to Law enforcement officers in the country as their dedication and hard work plays an important role in ending violence against women and girl children.

This book was written by Dr.Charika Marasinghe an expert on human rights law and child rights law. The objective was to recapitulate all relevant laws relating to women and children into one place so the users will find it easier to refer to this book when information was needed.
