A health service camp for women, children affairs and social empowerment ministry officials and other related service providers and employee groups!

2024.03.26 in the morning 7:30 to 12:00 p.m. A special health service camp was held in the premises of the Ministry of Women, Children Affairs and Social Empowerment till 2.00. This health camp was organised as one of a series of programs on enhancing the capabilities of service providers related to gender equality and redeveloping their skills.

The opening ceremony held before the start of the clinic services was attended by the Honorable Minister of State for Women and Children Mrs. Geeta Samanmalee Kumarasinghe, the Honorable Minister of State for Health Dr. Seetha Arambepola and the 2nd Secretary/ Development Co-operation of the Australian High Commission. Many dignitaries including Sophie Gordon attended. Full technical support for this clinic was provided by the Ministry of Health and Colombo National Hospital staff.

Also, the Provincial Ayurveda Department and the full contribution and services of the Ayurveda Department were also given for this purpose. Among the clinic services were body mass index screening, proper nutritional advice, blood pressure checks and medical clinics. People on long-term medication were also provided services through prescription medication, electrocardiogram (ECG) testing.

The roles of chronic kidney disease diagnosis clinic, ovarian/cervical cancer screening, breast cancer screening as well as eye examination and spectacles at subsidized rates were very beneficial to the participants. Dental clinic and blood sugar and cholesterol tests were very important clinics for clients.

A total of over 500 clients were able to be served for these clinic activities, which took place under the main coordination of the Planning and Operations Division of the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs.
