The second phase of the Artificial Intelligence (AI), with the aim of fostering an efficient, productive, and innovative working environment within the public service through the use of modern technology. Training Program organized for officers of the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs was successfully conducted on 1st September 2026 at the Auditorium, 6th Floor, Ministry of Women and Child Affairs.

Accordingly, key objectives of this training program was to enhance officers’ knowledge and understanding of emerging technological trends in the public service and to provide them with the fundamental skills required to use AI tools responsibly and effectively in the performance of their official duties.

A total of 70 Ministry officers participated in the second training program. The session commenced with a comprehensive introduction to the fundamental concepts of Artificial Intelligence and its current applications. This was followed by practical discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions on how AI technology can be effectively utilized in carrying out day-to-day official duties.

The training session was facilitated by Mrs. Thushari Seneviratne, Engineer and Centre Manager of the Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) Talent Development Centre.

Through her clear and practical approach to the subject, officers were provided with an opportunity to gain a better understanding of complex concepts related to AI technology and to explore practical ways of applying the acquired knowledge within their respective areas of work.

The program emphasized that the objective is not merely to acquire knowledge of AI technology, but also to ensure its responsible, secure, ethical, and effective application within the public service. The training further highlighted the importance of utilizing AI as a supportive tool to improve efficiency, productivity, and innovation while maintaining professional responsibility and information security.
