Building a Unified Front: Ministry Holds Second Staff Training Session with UNDP and Citra Lab
The Ministry of Women and Child Affairs, in collaboration with the UNDP and facilitated by the Citra Social Innovation Lab, successfully hosted the second training session titled "The Unified Front: Bridging Perspectives for Collective Success" on 30th July 2026 at the 4th Floor, Ministry Auditorium, Sethsiripaya, Battaramulla.
As part of ongoing capacity-building efforts in collaboration with the UNDP, the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs hosted its second major training program for public sector officials, titled "The Unified Front: Bridging Perspectives for Collective Success".
Event Overview and Objectives
The full-day workshop (9.00 am to 3.30 pm) focused on enhancing core competencies among Development Officers and Management Assistants. The curriculum was curated to strengthen teamwork, leadership, cross-division collaboration, time management, and resource management.
Session Highlights
Participants engaged in an interactive agenda designed to blend strategic alignment with hands-on skill development:
Ministry Vision: Secretary outlining the Ministry's core vision and strategic priorities, and way in which this kind of programs linked with Ministry goals.
• Icebreaker and Vision Discussions: Facilitated by UNDP, participants explored shared motivations through "Why I Chose This Work" and mapped out essential behaviors for organizational growth.
• 6 Thinking Hats: Team UNDP introduced parallel and creative thinking techniques to optimize team decision-making and reduce conflict.
• Empathy Exercise and Team Dynamics: "A Day in Her Life" to highlight citizen experiences, followed by directing the "Human Knot" activity to build trust and non-verbal communication.
• Tower and A to B Walk: Afternoon interactive modules ("Tower with imposter" and "A to B Walk") tested collaborative problem-solving under time constraints, resource management, and natural leadership alignment.
