Minister of Women and Child Affairs, Hon. Saroja Savithri Paulraj, participated in the recent meeting of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Asia Region Executive Committee.

The CPA Asia Region comprises Bangladesh, the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and its four provincial assemblies.

For the past three years, Sri Lanka has held the Chairmanship of the CPA Asia Region, a term which concluded in 2025.

Although Bangladesh was next in line to assume the chairmanship, the position was conferred to the Maldives through an election, as Bangladesh currently does not have an elected parliament.

Accordingly, the Deputy Speaker of the Maldivian Parliament, Hon. Ahmed Nazim, will serve as the Chairman of the CPA Asia Region Executive Committee for the next three years.

The Secretary-General of the Parliament of Sri Lanka and Secretary of the CPA Asia Region, Mrs. Kushani Rohanadeera, along with committee members and delegates representing the Asia Region, also attended the meeting.
