Ministry of Defence Cyber Command Conducts Second Cybersecurity Awareness Program to Strengthen National Digital Resilience- 30th January 2026

In a proactive effort to strengthen the nation’s digital security, the Defence Cyber Command (DCC) conducted its second Cybersecurity Awareness Program on 30 January 2026. Held at the invitation of the Secretary to the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs—and under the direction of the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and the Chief of National Intelligence—the session was attended by staff from the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs, including national-level officials and officers from the Gampaha District’s Women and Child Development units.

The event took place at the 6th-floor auditorium of Sethsiripaya, Battaramulla, and was organized in strategic alignment with the “Clean Sri Lanka” national initiative. This collaboration underscored the importance of a secure digital environment as a vital component of national development.

The program aimed to equip public sector officials with the skills required to navigate an increasingly complex digital landscape. The curriculum covered emerging digital risks, digital hygiene, and best practices for information security. Additionally, the program addressed secure e-governance infrastructure and Sri Lanka’s legal framework, concluding with practical demonstrations of real-world cyber threats and mitigation strategies.

Led by the Director of the Defence Cyber Command, the session saw strong institutional participation. The Ministry of Women and Child Affairs was represented by its senior staff and the Director Planning/ Director General (Duty Covering) of Planning and Monitoring. This engagement reflects a unified government commitment to protecting national digital assets and ensuring the resilience of information systems across all ministries.
