Background


The IAU is established for laying the foundation of corruption and bribery frees state service in Sri Lanka while ensuring the integrity among government officials.

This aims to implement robust anti-corruption measures within the public sector, foster a culture of integrity, accountability, and transparency across all government agencies, and deliver effective government services to all citizens.

Under Article 156 of the Constitution, Sri Lanka is committed to implement international anti-corruption agreements, including the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) and other global anti-corruption treaties.

Furthermore, the Anti-Corruption Act No. 9 of 2023 and, the forthcoming National Action Plan for the Prevention of Bribery and Corruption (2025-2029) is aligned with the other government policies and objectives.

According to the Presidential Office Circular PS/SB/Circular/2/2025, it has been decided to establish internal affairs units across all ministries, departments, and institutions of the government.
